The End is Near?
6/30/13 - Rumors have been swirling around U.S. Cellular Field for the past weekend; the Sox are open for business. Coming off an 8-18 June, General Manager Civardi has decided to shake things up a bit before the season truly begins later this month.
Teams around the league have been calling about fan favorites Chris Sale, Jesse Crain, Addison Reed, Alex Rios, Alexei Ramirez, Gordon Beckham, Adam Dunn and Jake Peavy.
Chris Sale; an athletic, young, all-star, could be on the move. Sporting a 2.79 era this season along with 114 strikeouts, scouts love his worth ethic and overall ability. They believe he is an ace who if dealt, could demand an Eric Bedard type return.
Catcher is a position this new talent evaluator is known to be found of. After growing up watching the likes of Mike Pizza and Jorge Posada man the position for his local ball clubs, Civardi has found his man in Houston Astro Jason Castro. Nothing can become official until the league office approves the trade in a few days but the current rumor has beloved catcher Tyler Flowers going to the Astros in exchange for Jason Castro and two minor leaguers. Flowers has been a sturdy, reliable player behind the plate, hitting 8 homeruns and driving in 22 runs this season. At age 27, his best years are still ahead of him but has become movable with the emergence of Josh Phegley in Triple A.
When asked about this matter, Civardi quoted his beloved role model Paula Dean saying "I cannot comment on pending transactions. We will explore every avenue possible to get better because I is what I is and I aint changin ya'll."
The only certainty in Chicago is that more players will be on their way out. Be warned

De Aza Traded to the A's
7/1/13 - "Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you
"
The White Sox are making moves once again, this time trading 29 year old outfielder Alejandro De Aza and the 117th pick in the draft for Oakland Athletic minor leaguer Michael Choice and the 25th selection. De Aza has been a key contributor to the club this season, hitting 10 homeruns and scoring another 46.
Opinions around the baseball world are mixed. Some are slamming the decision to trade such a quality outfielder for a mediocre prospect. Keith Law of ESPN tweeted this about earlier today "Have no clue what White Sox are thinking trading De Aza". Others such as Jim Bowden praise the move because it fits with the new General Managers plan of building through the draft and innovating a spectacular farm system. Overall, the consensus in the industry is that the Athletics won this deal now, but the White Sox may have won it in the future.
Fans outside The Cell were quoted saying "What the F***k does Civardi think hes doing." and "I hate this B****. I could run the franchise better than this fool"
At 29, Aza does not fit in with the long term future of the franchise. They do not believe he will be a starter when the team plans on competing. Choice, the number two prospect in Oaklands system, is a player Sox scouts have been in love with since he entered the draft in 2010. A power hitter known for his work ethic, they believe he will be a consistant middle of the order bat.
When asked about the trade Civardi had this to say "All our chips are on the table. The journey will be long but well worth it in the end."
Birmingham Baron fans are said to the quite pleased about the past few transactions. After bearing witness to some of the worst minor leaguers in baseball, the Barons are now are a team to watch in the Southern League. Fans are excited to see new additions Choice, Santana, and Villar dominate in the near future
